River City Outdoor Show "On-The-Air" Event

Thanks to all that came out to the Muscatine Mall on March 11-12 for the 6th Annual River City Outdoor Show. The Mobile Emergency Communications Trailer was on-site and sporting the 2 meter / 440 vertical on the top that was supplied by Kevin - N2AM, as well as a G5RV with the center at approx 50' and a R7 HF vertical on the back ladder. The portable station was setup inside the front entrance of the Mall and several HF contacts were made across the two days.

On-The-Air contacts were not the only contacts made that weekend. Some old friends stopped by like Larry - WAØVUS and Dave Metz. Many new friends were made as well and it was a great event for finding new members for MARC. Kevin - N2AM brought along a bunch of literature and some of it did make it in the hands of potential new hams!

The power supply and a Yaesu FT-2800 were supplied by Club President, Bill - KC8TWZ, and Scott - NØMRZ brought the HF equipment (Kenwood TS-570S with an external speaker and a Kenwood AT-230 antenna tuner). Great signal reports were received off the G5RV, and several QSO party contacts and stateside as well as contacts across Canada were put in the log book.

If you didn't come out and share in the fun, make sure to mark our next outing on you calendar. We would love to have you attend! 73 de NØMRZ
